5 July 2007 – Conference “Single Information Point regional networks:

During a conference to be held at the Palazzo Re Enzo in Bologna, the Emilia-Romagna Region will present the findings of an investigation into the regional network of Single Information Points for production activities (SUAP - Sportelli Unici per le attività produttive). Over the last few years, the investigation has monitored the activity of the information points to assess their level of efficiency and quality, with a view to continuously improving relations between the public authorities and businesses.

Established under legislative decree no. 112/1998, there are now 325 Single Information Points spread throughout the regions of Italy. They are located in the seats of the various municipalities in each province and their function is to simplify procedures associated with business activities.

Owing to the cooperation between the municipal authorities and all involved bodies, entrepreneurs have a single point of reference for various aspects related to their production activity and can know with certainty how long a procedure will take.

The investigation mainly concentrates on three thematic areas: structure – skills and relations with other bodies – use of information and communication technology (ICT), the adoption of virtuous behaviour with a view to improving the service.

The meeting will be coordinated by the Regional Councillor for Productive Activities, Duccio Campagnoli, and will involve the participation of the Minister for Public Administration Reform and Innovation, Luigi Nicolais.

The meeting is scheduled to commence at 09:30.
