Bologna , October 17, 2007 - Superb quality combined with innovation are the
defining characteristics of Omas writing instruments .
The success of this fine company aroused the interest of LVMH ( Moët
Hennessy ¿ Louis Vuitton ), the most important luxury group, and in
May 2000 it acquired 100% ownership of the firm, based in the Emilia Region.
In the sign of tradition, because the values that make Omas products so exclusive
are the same ones that the French group has always pursued: design,
craftsmanship, use of precious materials and innovation.
“There are cases of cobranding, like the Pucci and Krug models ¿ says the Chairman of Omas Christophe Artaux ¿ but in general, the strategy of the LVMH group is not to tamper with the Dna of the companies it acquires”. This means that Omas maintains its full operating independence in Bologna , where the entire production is manufactured and where turnover increased +34% from 2006 to 2007.
The strong point in the creation of the collections of this new generation is design, the secret to the success of the last two years. The elegant, minimalist style highlights the refinement Made in Italy , that gives the brand its spirit and extraordinary creativity, making it the hallmark of excellence for Italian creativity in the field of fountain pens . It is not just a matter of shape, however, because the esthetic features are matched by a studied ease of use.
The company started out as a small workshop in 1925 with the name of Officina Meccanica Armando Simoni (its founder's name), and in a few years it had become internationally renowned, when it turned its technical skill to the creation of the original machinery necessary to knurl the well, shape the pens, cut and polish the points.
An Omas fountain pen is hand-crafted and requires up to 100 days of highly specialized labor. It is made from natural materials like cotton resin, celluloid, titanium, gold and silver.
