Professional training

The regional supply in training is based on hundreds of professional training centres and a school/university system offering a complete programme of post-diploma and post-graduate courses.

The strong tradition of excellence in the use of the European Social Fund reached a value of around one billion Euro in the 2000-2006 plan. 806 million Euro will be allocated for the period 2007-2013. Training in the strict sense and support in research and innovation through the awarding of research grants and contributions to businesses for the employment of young researchers are the main areas of action.

The regional system also supports professional specialisation of the self-employed, aiding the access of recent graduates and diploma holders to professions, the development of associations between freelance professionals and ongoing professional refresher courses. In fact, the attraction potential of a territory also depends on the presence of a highly skilled and flexible labour force.
